Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I know how important it is for students to feel seen and heard. Every child deserves to have someone who believes in them, especially those who struggle with confidence and self-esteem. I remember what it was like to feel uncertain about my abilities, and I want to be the person who helps students push past those doubts. My goal is to shape them into leaders by challenging them, encouraging them, and reminding them that mistakes opportunities for growth.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was with a student who often flew under the radar. He came from a difficult home environment and struggled to manage his emotions, which led to frequent outbursts in school. At the beginning of the year, he pushed me away at every turn, but I refused to give up on him. Over time, I was able to break through his tough exterior, and he slowly began to trust me. I watched as he not only grew academically but also gained confidence socially & emotionally

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I had $25,000, I would donate a portion to the Sandy Hook Promise organization to support their efforts in promoting school safety and preventing future tragedies. Their work is crucial in protecting students and creating safer learning environments. I would also use the money to help secure a better future for my own children, whether through their education, extracurricular opportunities, or savings. This money would allow me to give back to both my community & my family in a meaningful way
