Tell us why you became a teacher

I have had a passion for teaching since a young age, which grew stronger in my first years of college. I was privileged to have educators who truly made a footprint on my educational journey. They demonstrated what it truly means to care, advocate, and make a difference in their students’ lives. My teachers became an example of what I aspire to be for every student who enters my classroom.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It’s difficult to pinpoint one specific moment from over the years, but I have been approached by several former students to write them college recommendation letters. One specific student made a point to attribute his success in English Language Arts to the strategies that I taught him. He said he continued to hear my “voice in his head” every time he took a test or had a written assignment. Knowing that I was able to make a long lasting impact, solidified that I am truly making a difference.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would be able to put this money towards furthering my education and investing in my first home.
