Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a meaningful difference. Growing up, I envisioned being the kind of teacher who inspires students to recognize their potential and impacts their lives beyond the classroom. I often joke that my love for school led me to become a teacher so I could keep going to school every day! But my true motivation comes from a desire to support all students in achieving their goals and dreams, especially as they prepare for life after high school.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

We don’t often hear the words "Thank you". I remember staying after school to tutor a student who was struggling. A few weeks later, I received a note during Teacher Appreciation Week. It was a heartfelt thank-you, and it served as a powerful reminder of why I chose to become a teacher. That simple act of gratitude reaffirmed the importance of showing students that we won’t give up on them, even when things get tough. It is one of the most selfless and impactful things a teacher can do.

What would you do with the $25,000?

My goal for the money is to support my seniors as they prepare for their prom and graduation. This year marks the first graduating class, and I want to ensure they have a memorable celebration. I would also donate a portion of the funds to support our school. Additionally, I hope to use the money to pursue my master’s degree in School Counseling and to assist my family.
