I became a high school science teacher because I love seeing students realize their potential through exploration. Science is more than just facts—it’s a way of thinking, questioning, and discovering. Watching students light up when they grasp a concept or make a connection fuels my passion for teaching. I want to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom, empowering students to see their own potential and capabilities in new ways.

My most memorable teaching experience was when we suddenly shifted to distance learning due to COVID. My project-based STEAM Integrated Physics class had to adapt their momentum marble project into a digital format. They created a stunning video of a rolling ball, set to "The Great Gatsby" theme, with intricate backgrounds and a Lana Del Rey soundtrack. Despite the challenges, they didn’t miss a beat. I had never been more proud of a project that beautifully blended physics and art.

With $25,000, I would start a teacher pathways program in my district to inspire future educators. This program would provide mentorship, hands-on classroom experiences, and resources for students interested in teaching. I want others to see the joy and fulfillment that comes with this career and help them develop the skills and confidence to pursue it. By fostering a new generation of passionate educators, we can strengthen our schools and create lasting, positive change in education.
