Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to ensure that every student, no matter their socio-economic background, ability, race, or identity, has access to high-quality education. I believe every child deserves a teacher who not only champions their potential but also sees their unique strengths and helps them overcome challenges. My goal is to inspire, empower, and support my students, fostering their confidence and guiding them to achieve success in both school and life. Every child deserves that opportunity.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was when my students designed an egg drop project and we had the local fire department come out to test our projects by dropping them 75 feet from the ladder. Students were excited to see how their projects survived! his connects to our Letters to a PreScientist pen pal program, where students engage with STEM professionals worldwide. Expanding our classroom community shows them science is real, global, and full of possibilities for their future.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would pay off my student loans, allowing me to focus more on my teaching and professional growth. I would also invest in much-needed home improvements, such as replacing old pipes, to create a safer and more stable living environment. These upgrades would not only improve our daily life but also prevent future costly repairs. This financial relief would provide greater stability and peace of mind, allowing me to continue making a meaningful impact as an educator.
