Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because my 2nd grade teacher made a huge impact on my life and inspired me to be that for other students. I want to be the kind, loving, encouraging teacher that she was for me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was when I received a letter this year from a student I had 3 years ago saying how much she misses me as a teacher and that “reading is hard without me”. She said she likes all her teachers she had, but I am still her “favorite teacher”. That was the impact my 2nd grade teacher had on me, so it was very special and heartwarming.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I spend a good amount of money on classroom supplies and items for my students. Whether it’s to reward them, help them grow in their learning, or help me grow in my craft. I always am buying things to make my classroom, students and me as a teacher better. I would also help my family out with this money as well as for some debt.
