Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I absolutely adored all of my teachers in school. I loved helping people and just the whole concept of being a teacher. I love building relationships with the kids and watching them understand the material. Everyday I look forward to going to work.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Middle school is so unique that you never know what you’re going to encounter. I coach girls volleyball and winning the championship two years in a row (my first and only two years so far) was so rewarding. The energy was electric. I also fondly remember my first year teaching and how nervous I was, yet it was the kids that made me feel so comfortable everyday.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would share with my mother. She is a single mother who raised me to care for others and have a strong work ethic. She continues to work hard everyday and shows that hard work pays off. She has shaped me into the woman and teacher that I am. To take some of her burden away would be the most rewarding experience.
