Learn MoreWhen I was in elementary school, I had a wonderful teacher that poured into me. She recognized my struggles educationally and personally and made me feel valued. As I got older, I wanted to be a teacher to do the same. I want my students to realize each one of them has something to share outside the walls of the school building. They are not bound to their upbringing only by their determination.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceWhen I was teaching 8th Grade US History, I taught a young struggling student who would come to my class, twice a day, instead of an elective he did not like. The first class, he would listen but not add to the discussion. When he came back the second time, he was more confident and would be an active member in the class discussion. He passed his state assessment that year.
What would you do with the $25,000?With $25000, I would help my oldest pursue his dream of moving to New York and I would save some to help my youngest start his college journey.
