Connect Tell us why you became a teacher

My inspiration for becoming an educator was my third grade teacher. She made learning fun, memorable, and easy. That is my goal for the kids that I have in my care. I want them to have fun and learn while they are with me. I want to make a difference in the lives of children in our community.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Teaching during Covid was a struggle for all of us, but it is also the most memorable moment of my teaching career. To end the year so abruptly and not get to say goodbye to my students that year, in person, was the most difficult time in my career. We finished that year online, seeing each other through a screen, but we made it through with hard work and determination. We all grew that year, myself and the students alike. We grew through that experience.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would love to take my family in a vacation together. We have fallen on tough times recently and haven't been able to afford to go anywhere together. Plus, it would be a nice little nest egg to have for the stormy days that happen.
