I became a teacher because I firmly believe that every student deserves someone who believes in them. As an advocate for equity, diversity, and the fundamental right to education for all, I strive to be the person who uplifts, encourages, and inspires. Every child deserves someone who sees their potential and helps them grow into the best version of themselves. Growing up as an English Language Learner, I faced numerous challenges that at times made success feel out of reach.

My most memorable teaching experience was during online learning in teaching third grade due to COVID. A few years later, a former student told me she wouldn’t have made it through that challenging year without me because of her unstable home. She shared how my teaching and silliness brought happiness to her life during such a difficult time. Moments like these remind me why I became a teacher and the impact we can have on our students’ lives, even when we don’t realize it at the time.

With $25,000 I would pay towards my student debt and pursue a master’s in multicultural and multilingual education. I’d also enroll in a doctorate program soon after to further my impact in education. Lastly, I would start a college fund for my newborn daughter to ensure her future opportunities. This investment would honor my family’s sacrifices while advancing my career and securing a better future for the next generation.
