Tell us why you became a teacher

Growing up, my teachers were my biggest supporters. At times when I had a tough home life, it was my teachers who supported me and motivated me. I always knew I wanted to give back and be that support to other people like I so graciously received. I knew that if I became a teacher I could be that support and motivator to make an impact on other kids' lives.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I work at an expeditionary learning school where we align our standards to real-world experiences. Each year I get to accompany my students on week long camping trips. My most memorable experience was when a student who was struggling academically and behaviorally found his purpose on this trip. He blossomed with confidence and enthusiasm. This trip in turn led to him being confident and enthusiastic in the academic setting which once was a place of struggle and despair.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off my graduate degree loan!
