I became a teacher because I want to inspire the next generation of young minds to discover the same love for learning I grew to have when I was in school. My hope is to inspire students to actively seek knowledge, ask tough questions, and think outside of the box to solve problems.

The most memorable experience I had while teaching was our class egg drop experiment! After studying scientific concepts, including energy, forces, and motion, my students began by posing their scientific questions, conducting research on materials they could use, and creating a hypothesis. Students got the opportunity to sketch their prototype design and complete a hands on build of their design. Once complete, students got to drop their designs containing their egg from a height of 20 feet!

If I was fortunate enough to win $25,000 I would use a portion of it to help put myself through graduate school to earn my masters degree in curricular instruction. I would put the other portion of the money towards building my schools’/classroom library and purchasing new science equipment for my students (microscopes, beakers, test tubes, and Bunsen burners).
