Tell us why you became a teacher

I have always felt that teaching was my calling, even from a young age. I have never even contemplated doing something else. I have always loved to interact with others, and have worked to bring out the joy in every situation possible! When I entered high school, I had the opportunity to spend one hour a day during my senior year with the first grade class. I was there to assist the teacher, but in reality, they were assisting me. That year completely solidified my desire to become a teacher.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My first year teaching was during 2020. Every teacher's first year is chaotic, but it felt overwhelming at times. I still put my heart and soul into my students and told myself if nothing else, they would leave this year feeling positive about school, safe, and cared for. When I received a several messages from a parents mid-year telling me that they had seen huge changes in their child at home/school work and attributed it to their time in third grade. I felt like I had succeeded in my goal.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would put the $25,000 towards bettering my family's life. I would use the money to pay down my mortgage, and use the rest to invest in my children's futures by contributing to their 529 plans. It is never too early to save for your child's education!
