Tell us why you became a teacher

The reward for teaching is helping children to have that “lightbulb” moment of understanding a difficult concept. I wanted to make the classroom a place where children would be excited to come every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

While I was working as a special education teacher, one of my nonverbal students made a connection to my classroom Disney theme and began speaking. It felt remarkable to be a small part of that momentous milestone in my student’s life.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000.00 to aid in enriching the classroom experience for my students. As an elementary teacher teaching all classes, it makes a huge impact to have projects and games to allow students to learn and absorb material through practical learning. I would be able to add to my classroom library and have basic supplies available for students who don’t have the means to afford them.
