Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to help students, of all ages, to learn and grow. I wanted my students to know that they would ALWAYS have an adult “in their corner” to support and encourage them!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have dozens of memorable experiences from the years of teaching! One of my favorites was when a student was trying to get my attention and ended calling me “Mom”. He was horrified and tried to apologize. I told him that he had done nothing to apologize for and that he paid me one of the best compliments that I’d ever gotten! If a student calls a teacher Mom or Dad, it’s because they know deep in their hearts that we love them!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would love to take the money and provide students access to educational technology to increase their engagement, learning environment, and academic performance. I would also like to use the money to provide educators with training to enhance their EdTech skills.
