Tell us why you became a teacher

My parents only got to attend school until Grade 5, so they hold education to a very high standard. It is a privilege to be educated. I want to help students learn and gain those valuable skills that education provides, for my parents.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

That spark in a child’s eye when they feel comforted and welcome in a classroom. All children are different, but finding what speaks to each child. A child’s approval is the best of all.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I am a starting off teacher, so I would begin with buying stuff to create my dream classroom through the inspiration of my Pinterest board. I would also use money to go teach worldwide, as my teaching philosophy is experiential education, so that I can teach in countries that need the education most. I have already had the opportunity to teach in Guatemala, and I would like to teach in more counties, however income has always been a barrier.
