Teaching is a rewarding experience. In my years working in the education field, I’ve fallen in love with those everyday moments of growth.

I became a teacher to give back to my community and create the support I didn’t always see growing up. Representation matters, and I’m proud to be someone my students can look up to. Helping them realize their potential and inspiring them to dream big is my way of building a brighter future.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable experiences was with a boy struggling with behavioral challenges due to delayed speech. Building trust took time, but I stayed consistent, learning his cues and celebrating every small win. One day, he walked up, smiled, and said “apple pie,” his way of asking for a fist bump. He had found a way to connect! That moment reminded me how powerful patience and love are. Seeing him gain confidence changed both of us for the better.
What would you do with the $25,000?With $25,000, I would take the first step toward opening my own private practice or nonprofit dedicated to helping children in low-income communities access quality care. Early childhood is critical for building a strong foundation for learning, but many families face barriers to finding the support they need. My goal is to provide affordable, developmentally appropriate care and resources that empower both children and their families, creating opportunities for long-term positive growth.
