I became a teacher because I wanted to make a lasting impact, just as my own teachers did for me. Their guidance sparked my curiosity and belief in myself. I realized I loved helping others learn, whether through tutoring or mentoring, and I wanted to pass that on. Teaching offers the chance to shape lives, inspire confidence, and foster growth. It’s a way for me to contribute to my community, challenge norms, and continually grow alongside my students. It’s a purpose I’m passionate about.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

A memorable moment is seeing a student’s face light up when they realize I showed up for them outside of school. Whether it’s a game, a concert, or any event they care about, that look of surprise and pride says it all. It’s a reminder that being present matters just as much as what happens in the classroom.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I’d invest in experiences and resources that make a lasting impact—enhancing my classroom with hands-on science tools, supporting student activities, and growing my photography business. A portion would go toward community initiatives, ensuring both my students and my work continue to inspire and create meaningful connections.
