I always envied teachers growing up. I had many teachers, as I’m sure we all did, that changed our lives, and I wanted to do that for others. I knew when I had a teacher that, not only loved being an educator, but had compassion and love for their kids as well. I will spend the rest of my life trying to be that teacher for any child that needs it. And hopefully spawn a few future educators while I’m at it.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Teaching in under-served communities comes with its own challenges but major rewards. This makes it hard to choose just one memorable experience. Providing opportunities for kids to love school gives me life long joy and memories to hold on to forever.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I’ve spent my life learning how to be the best advocate for families of all colors. Theres no one child or situation that will drive me away from what I do, but there’s only so much I can do. If I won $25,000 it could be another tool for me to help these communities. I would hold and grow this money until a time comes where the people I serve needs it. I know how important it is to use my privilege in the right way and this money could cause powerful change that I couldn’t make otherwise.
