Register NowI became a teacher because it’s simply what I was made to do. I always gravitated to a younger group of children and was teaching them something instead of playing with kids my own age. I knew when I was 12 I wanted to be a teacher.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceThere are so many. Witnessing a child who struggled to read unlock the code and begin to love reading tops the list. But my absolute favorite moments are when I help children become writers. Seeing their own words in writing, illustrating, and making books empowers children.
What would you do with the $25,000?I’d do something to enrich my life and give me greater experiences that I can share with my students. I’d probably take a trip, buy a go-pro and create 3d videos to put into immersive learning experiences. I teach a year long theme about the ocean and I’d love to go someplace and (ethically) bring back artifacts to my class. I’d also pay to take them all to the aquarium afterwards. ❤️ And I’d update my teaching wardrobe and get some more comfortable supportive shoes! The good ones are pricy!
