Rosalinda Lopez Silvano

Teaching is both rewarding and humbling. I look forward each day to work with children with Autism. They are so intelligent and unique.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I've always wanted to be a teacher. I remember my favorite pastime game with my younger sisters was to play school in our bedroom however I decided to become a special education teacher once my youngest brother, was born with down syndrome. I had the opportunity to volunteer a few times while he was attending elementary school, which sparked interest for me in the area of special education.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

A memorable experience is when students went from nonverbal to speaking in complete sentences and being able to advocate for themselves.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would love a trip to Hawaii with my family, but I would also love to pay off school loans that I'm still working on paying off. After paying off School bones, whatever remaining money I have, I would use to pay off my car by me, not having these Bills would give me extra money to spend in my classroom..
