There were several people from my childhood who made a profound difference in my life, and each one of them were teachers. I’ve always felt that it was my way to give back. If I could touch at least one life, one heart, then my mission had been accomplished.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI do a lot of hands-on activities, which is so fun and so easy to do when you teach science. We had a cow as a virtual class pet last year. We watched it grow through photos sent and learned about the farm where it lived. To get the kids excited about our class pet, I held a “gender reveal” party. Everyone got cupcakes, and when they bit into them, they knew if it was a boy or girl by the color of frosting inside. I hope they will always remember that. I try to make everything special.
What would you do with the $25,000?Put it towards my own childrens’ college education. I have four children.
