Teaching allows me to lead a wholly musical life, in and out of the classroom. It has allowed me to grow as an artist and model to students.

Register NowI became a teacher because I am in love with my school community. I am an alumnus of my school (Xaverian in Brooklyn, NY). Many musical and academic opportunities were afforded to me while I was a student. It is my mission to provide my students with similar opportunities, and to do my part to bring up the next generation of creative musicians.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI am fortunate to work with my husband. He and I are responsible for the drama program at our school: a fall drama and spring musical with grades 9-12, and a musical with grades 6-8. This is our 8th year co-directing. Our first show was Beauty & the Beast in ‘18. At the time my brother was a senior, and he played the narrator. So, in my ten years of teaching the most memorable experience is the moment I struck the overture from the pit that opening night with my students and family.
What would you do with the $25,000?I teach a harp ensemble program. Students can learn to play the harp as a beginner and take it all the way through high school with the goal of continuing in college. I am the first alumnus of this program so a my work is to pay it forward to my students. I show them how to live a musical life. I play the harp, and other instruments, all day at school and then as a freelance musician I spend the rest of my time practicing, performing, and composing. I would use the money to buy a new harp.
