Tell us why you became a teacher

My true passion for teaching emerged when I began teaching private music lessons while in college. I loved helping students grow musically and express themselves, and I realized teaching was truly fulfilling. Inspired by bands like Nirvana, I saw music as a way to connect and create. Over the years, I’ve been honored as a distinguished educator and praised as a leader. My goal is to be a positive role model and help students develop a lifelong love for music.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was seeing my students perform at their first concert. Many started with little confidence, but through hard work, they played beautifully and felt proud of their achievement. Watching their excitement and hearing parents express gratitude reminded me why I teach. Moments like these—where students realize their potential and develop a love for music—are what make teaching so rewarding.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000 as America's Favorite Teacher, I would invest in my students' musical growth. I’d purchase quality instruments, sheet music, and technology to enhance learning. I’d also fund experiences like guest clinicians or field trips to inspire them. Additionally, I’d support my own professional development to bring new ideas to my classroom. My goal would be to make music education more accessible, engaging, and impactful for every student I teach.
