Tell us why you became a teacher

My husband's response: "I love learning and sharing what I learn. I like "filling buckets". When I asked him to explain, he stated, "You never heard of that saying? Well, most believe that teaching is not filling buckets, it is more about lighting fires. I like to say that it is about filling one's bucket with knowledge". Note from his wife: My husband is extremely logical and his answer intrigues me. I am the humanities educator, so I am quite fond of his response.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

As his wife, he creates memorable moments for his students and their families. Every year, we get together and have a Star-BQ. My husband creates areas of exploration (he took a class with NASA and gets to bring artifacts to our school). He also has a room that is set up with Elite Dangerous; thus, students and parents can take turns exploring the universe and planets. He sets up 3 Celestron 8 telescopes with his Astronomy students so people can view the night sky. He has sung before too!

What would you do with the $25,000?

Since I nominated my husband, I know him well enough to answer this question. He has been driving a Echo for as long as I have known him. This little Echo breaks down frequently, and he continues to revive it. He states, "I will drive it until it finally dies". Sadly, it is about to die. It has nearly 400,000 miles on, It has stalled going over the Grapevine; thus, we do not drive his car on long distances anymore. Also, my wife has been through two brain surgeries. I owe her a trip to Hawaii
