I became a teacher because of the impact my teachers had on me! To be specific, my band director. He believed in me, helped me succeed in more than just music, and taught me how to be a successful adult. Young people need this more than ever, being the main reason I became a teacher!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was watching my band program, which was at risk of collapse when I came in, place in finals at almost all marching band competitions my second year. Seeing the growth and development of a band program is truly magical.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would invest in my own band program that so desperately needs it. We are a rural, poorer district that needs all the help it can get. I would also help my disabled mother and improve her home to make it more accessible!
