Tell us why you became a teacher

Rosa Sevilla Alvero is a National Phil .hero , my grandmother set up Instituto de Mujeres .She inspired my mother Silvina Sevilla Clemente to set up her own Montessori preschool too . I was tutoring since I was in 5th grade and was always exposed to caring for young children . Teaching runs deep in my blood and I love working with young people .I had an art class on weekends when I was in college . I ‘ve always been a mentor to the youth and had always held positions of leadership .

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Every moment of teaching is memorable for me. However my most memorable teaching experience would be setting up a classroom that is educational and inviting for children and then seeing their eyes light up eager to learn and work with the materials with excitement and joy .

What would you do with the $25,000?

I met Mother Theresa when I was 15. She inspired me very deeply . All these years teaching , I have sent books , educational materials , toys and clothes to the poorest of the poor and marginalized neighborhoods in the Philippines.I will utilize part of the funds to pay for the shipment and I will save the rest for my retirement .I love sharing my blessings with others .
