Tell us why you became a teacher

I was a struggling reader, and my teachers did everything they could to help me succeed! I am grateful that teaching was put on my heart, specifically to help students learn how to read, and succeed in their reading journey! I am grateful for my years in the classroom, and now my few years as a reading specialist! I have the best job helping students on their reading journey, and promoting accelerated progress!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My favorite and most memorable teaching experience(s) have been when students have warmed my heart by saying "I can read!!!!" or "I love coming to reading group because you help me learn how to read!!" Those are the most memorable teaching experiences because it reminds me of why I do what I do!!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would be astronomically blessed to receive this gift. I would first donate at least 10 percent of this to a charity or charities of choice. I would put a portion into savings, and also use it to help renovate our home we just bought this summer. My husband has been doing the construction on our home!
