Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to specifically work with students that struggle in the typical classroom setting. I primarily work with students that have challenges such as emotional disturbance, ADHD, conduct disorder and other behavior challenges.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is the students that have turned their lives around and share their adult success with me, such as being invited to a former student's baby shower, and another being called on the day that a former student passed all his EMT exams and began to work for our city. It warms my heart to hear and see the success stories of students who have had a difficult life.

What would you do with the $25,000?

First and foremost I would take my family on a vacation because they fully support me and the time I give to my students. I would then have a celebration with my current students and use some of the money towards therapeutic items that can not be funded by the district during these economically challenging times.
