Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because my mother Zelinda Kaye Hampton may she RIP, was my teacher and the love she poured into children is what inspired me to do the same thing. I love when children say they love to sing and I love to create songs to help children learn and love a beautiful language.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I was a 1st grade teacher at the time and was asked to teach a fourth and fifth grade class. This last for 2 weeks and the second day I went home and wrote a school song. The Superintendent and some Principals had a meeting at our school and during the 5th grade lunch, they sang for our guest. Every adult cried because 90 students sounded like angels. The following year I was promoted as the new music teacher and received Rookie Teacher of the Year!!!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would buy equipment for my students and bless my husband for sacrificing money to help me provide for my students. Finally I would save and add on to one day take my choir on a trip to perform on a big stage!!!
