I love teaching special education because it allows me to create an inclusive and supportive environment where all students can thrive.

I became a teacher because I see potential in every student, regardless of the challenges they face. I believe that all students deserve a learning environment where they feel supported, valued, and capable of success. Teaching special education allows me to meet students where they are, celebrate their strengths, and help them grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable teaching experiences was seeing a student make a breakthrough in their learning after struggling for so long. This student had been working on foundational reading skills, and despite their best efforts, progress was slow. We tried different strategies, adjusted instruction, and provided extra support, but frustration often set in. Then, one day, it just clicked. They read a full sentence fluently, looked up at me with wide eyes, and said, “I did it!”
What would you do with the $25,000?If I had $25,000, I would first pay off my student loans to relieve financial stress and allow me to focus more on my students. I’d then invest in my classroom by purchasing adaptive materials, assistive technology, and engaging resources to support diverse learning needs. I’d also pursue professional development in culturally responsive teaching and special education best practices to better advocate for my students and create a more inclusive, equitable learning environment.
