Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I hope to be a light and voice for children. I hope to create a safe space for students to be themselves. I hope to advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves. I love building relationships with students and being their biggest life long cheerleaders. Being in the classroom is an unbeatable feeling. I simply cannot imagine what I would do if I could not teach.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My favorite teaching moments are the in between ones. love when we can break loose and laugh a little. I love walking kids to PE class and having a few minutes to whisper about the big, the small, and everything in between! The good morning hugs and the fist bumps goodbye. The little moments are the most memorable because it creates the lasting bond between not only the students and me, but the class as a whole. love teaching students to embrace their differences and love one another.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000 I would allot some of it to getting a different vehicle. My current car is on its last leg so that is at the top of my financial stressors right now. I would love to use a portion of the money on my classroom/students- as they are the reason I do what I do! I would also like to donate some curriculum programs for my school- specifically phonics/science/social studies.
