Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to be the kind of educator I never had during my own school years- one who truly understood and supported students facing challenges. Having struggled myself in school, I experienced firsthand the frustration and self-doubt that can arise from learning difficulties. These experiences inspired me to pursue teaching, with a strong desire to create an inclusive, empathetic environment where all students feel valued and understood.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when I was working with a student that struggled with different mental disorders. It was memorable because it was hard and challenging but when you could get through to him and show him love you knew he needed it appreciate it. Teaching is more than just feeding them academic knowledge, it providing them a safe and loving environment to help feed their social and emotional development too.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would allocate it toward enhancing the classroom environment and providing resources that directly benefit my students. This could include acquiring educational materials, supplies, and tools that support a diverse range of learning needs, as well as creating an engaging and stimulating atmosphere that fosters academic success and personal growth. My focus would be on investing in resources that promote hands-on learning, student engagement, and overall educational development.
