Growing up as one of six kids, I was always the go-to helper, cheering on my siblings and finding joy in their triumphs. That spark grew into a passion for teaching, where I get to witness the magic of "aha" moments firsthand. There’s something indescribable about watching a student’s eyes light up when they finally crack a tough problem. But it’s not just about the lessons—it’s about the connections, the trust, and the chance to help students see their own potential and shine.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment happened early in my career with a student reluctant even to show up to school. It’s the tough kids that stay with you. Together, we built connections, made deals, and brought math to life using anything he could relate to. The class rallied around him, celebrating his victories, and our community grew stronger as we cheered on our "weakest link." Watching him succeed proved that even the smallest breakthroughs can transform lives and unite a classroom.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I’d focus on creating peace of mind. Financial stress is a daily weight, and this gift would allow me to pay off what I owe, lifting that burden. Freed from those worries, I could fully focus on what matters—being present with my family, pursuing new opportunities, and giving my best to those around me.
