Tell us why you became a teacher

I was always playing “school” when I was a child. I’ve felt it’s always been my lifelong passion. I admired my first grade teacher and she inspired me to become one as well. I teach multilingual children how to read, and it’s very rewarding.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

There are many, but recently, I had a student reach out from my past to tell me how well she is doing and thanked me for being one of her teachers. It’s moments like this that make me feel that I am making a difference and am where I am meant to be.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I am currently taking a class through Breathe for Change to become yoga, sel and mindfulness certified. I’d use some of the money to purchase yoga mats, blocks, etc because I’d like to create a yoga group for interested students/staff in my school.
