Tell us why you became a teacher

I was inspired to become a teacher because of my mother, who was also an educator. I admired how her career allowed her to be present during summers and school breaks, creating a wonderful balance between her professional and personal life. Visiting her classroom and witnessing the positive impact she had on her students further solidified my decision. It motivated me to pursue a career where I could make a similar difference in the lives of others.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was in special education, working with two 6th-grade students on reading skills. After a lesson, we played an educational card game that evolved into a card-stacking challenge. The activity reinforced critical thinking and strategy, and it became a cherished memory for the students. Years later, one of them returned as a senior to ask if I would wear his jersey on senior night-a touching reminder of the lasting impact of our teacher-student relations

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received $25,000, I would first pay off my recently purchased SUV, which I had to buy after my car was totaled. With the remaining funds, I’d give my kids a “yes” weekend—with reasonable limits—allowing them to create special memories. The rest would go toward paying down our home to help my family become debt-free sooner, providing greater financial stability and peace of mind for the future.
