Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to inspire and empower students, helping them build confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Teaching 6-8 grade Computer Science allows me to spark curiosity, foster creativity, and prepare students for a tech-driven future. I love seeing their excitement when they grasp new concepts and apply them in meaningful ways. Education is my way of making a lasting impact, guiding students to discover their potential and succeed in an ever-evolving world.

My most memorable teaching moment was taking a group of students to Microsoft in Charlotte, NC. Seeing their excitement as they explored real-world technology, engaged with professionals, and envisioned future careers was unforgettable. It was inspiring to watch them connect classroom learning to real industry experiences, sparking curiosity and ambition. What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000, I would invest in my classroom by bringing in new technology and resources to enhance my students’ learning experiences. I’d also use it for professional development, attending conferences, and expanding my knowledge to become a better educator. Additionally, I’d set some aside for personal goals, such as furthering my education, and giving some back to my community. No matter what, I’d make sure to use it in a way that creates a lasting impact.
