Tell us why you became a teacher

Well originally I wanted to be a coach for Football and Rugby but to get started with that not only do I need to be able to teach but I need to be good at teaching as well. This is how I found my opportunity at East Jefferson High School. I’ve noticed there’s a lot of students that actually want to be in a good direction but they just need the right push that way and they tend to find their own way after that.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is hard to pick since I’m still somewhat new to teaching, however, I think my most memorable moment of this previous year was watching students that had no plans of college change those plans to seek higher education but. I know this cause they told me it was specifically from my class being their favorite and me being their favorite teacher.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest majority of the $25,000 into our East Jefferson Rugby team. We currently have a Boys team competing for the playoffs soon and the first ever girls high school rugby team in the State of Louisiana. This money will give the girls opportunities to play out of state against other girls high school rugby teams. I would also send some money to the Band program at East Jefferson High School. I am good friends with the Asst. Band Director and I would like to support that program as well.
