Tell us why you became a teacher

I had the fortune to grow up, watching my mom be a teacher, but not just a regular teacher, she was the best teacher in my home town, and to me, she was my super hero, I couldn’t be prouder to have the best teacher as my mother; I just knew I wanted to be like her, I imagined myself being the most wonderful teacher, helping children with learning difficulties, become the best version of themselves as adults.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I strongly believe that learning from my students, is crucial to become a great teacher. Kamden was one of my special needs students, I would always encourage her to smile and participate in class; one day, I was going through a challenging period of my life and had a very hard time finding reasons to smile, little Kamden grabs my chin and smiles, then, she draws a smile on my lips, just as I used to do it for her, and I break down into tears, she dries my face and gives me a big hug.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I can only imagine how wonderful this would be for my following school year, I would be able to do so many amazing projects with my little students, they would have so much fun learning, and I would be less stressed about overspending in school supplies!!!
