Tell us why you became a teacher

How do I say I became a teacher to make a difference in the lives of young people with out sounding cliché? Watching scholars realize their they have a voice is a gift; helping them learn how to use their voice is a blessing. I became a teacher hoping to inspire scholars to use their voice and to continue the cycle of inspiration.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Innovations High School. Big Picture Learning. How do I pick just one? I am blessed to work at a school that values relationships and restorative practices. We begin the school year with "O" week- Orientation week- spending the week breaking down barriers and teaching scholars how to shed old practices and embrace learning through their lens. I have many memorable experiences watching scholars shed old practices and embrace new learning styles.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would put the money toward a more reliable vehicle. I commute about 100 miles a day to work and back. I currently have a 2 wheel drive a 2010 Toyota Corolla with quite a few miles on it (close to 200,000). I live in an area that does get snow, all wheel drive would be such a game changer.
