Tell us why you became a teacher

I’ve been very fortunate to have had some amazing teachers in my life that shared their love and passion for music. I wanted to continue that process and watch as kids become artists and find their voice. I’ve never had to work a day! I’ve always gone to school and been part of it with them.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Ive had so many beautiful moments in my 23 year career. One that comes to mind quickly is when we took the band, choir and orchestra to perform in Washington D.C. The students performed beautifully right outside the Lincoln Memorial. We had a huge group and we were able to do some very mature pieces. I was so proud of their work, their presentation and their artistry.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I teach orchestra in an urban school district. Our finances are very tight. Many of the kids play on school instruments that most places would deem unplayable. So I think I spend some money on upgrading some of their equipment and what I use to teach.
