Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of the impact my teachers had on me growing up. I realized my passion for teaching when I was awarded an honor in 8th grade, given to a student who showed future teacher qualities. That moment made me certain of my path. Since then, I’ve worked in roles like lifeguard, swim instructor, tutor, and teacher’s aide, all to gain experience. I want to impact my students the way my teachers impacted me—by creating an environment where every student feels supported and valued.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was the last day of my first year. That year was filled with so many "firsts," and the bonds we created were incredible. As we said goodbye, every single student, including myself, was crying. We shared a group hug before leaving for the day. It was a beautiful moment of connection, growth, and emotional reflection. That moment encapsulated the joy and challenges of teaching, and I will never forget how deeply we all felt that day.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I teacher won $25,000, I would invest in resources that directly benefit students’ learning and well-being. I’d purchase updated technology for interactive learning, create a classroom library with diverse books, and fund extracurricular programs that promote creativity and teamwork. Additionally, I’d organize workshops to support social-emotional learning and mental health.
