Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because it is the most fulfilling career. I enjoy sharing knowledge as well as shaping kids for their future. It only takes one teacher to make an impact and life long connection. My students know they will always have a special seat in my classroom, even after they've completed a school year with me. Educating them is my job, being present in their lives and watching them thrive is my WHY! They are all capable of so much, they just need to be believed in.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have had quite a few memorable teaching experiences. In 2012, I had a sweet, smart, & timid boy in kindergarten. Eddie is his name. His family trusted me & were beyond grateful to have me as their sons kindergarten teacher. Over a decade has passed, I've kept in touch with Eddie and his family. Eddie asks me to become his God mother & in May of 2025, I will be present to watch him in his cap & gown as he graduates high-school. He was my student for a year but he is part of my life forever.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would extend my maternity leave until next school year and take a trip to the capital with both of my own children. I would then put whatever money is left over into their savings account.
