Tell us why you became a teacher

It was sort of an accident. I didn't intend to become a teacher until I realized, as a paraprofessional, that I enjoyed it. I enjoyed a lot about it. It was rewarding and I enjoyed coming up with music lesson plans and basing how successful they were based on student engagement and laughter. It started to feel right. That, that was my purpose, to inform and model. To try an be a positive male role model in and out the classroom.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when I taught guitar lessons. I worked at a Collaborative program, with students with behaviors, and one day I brought in my electric guitar and a lot of the students (8-9 years old) were interested in it and wanted to learn. Since they were on plans I saw a new incentive and promised them if they bevahced throughout the day and followed their extrinsic plans, they could earn guitar playing time with me, teaching 7 nation army and smoke on the water.

What would you do with the $25,000?

My wife and I are planning on adopting children. We are taking classes for DCF and are in the process. We would use that money spend on clothes, food, and toys for a lucky child/children that will one day become part of our lucky family. My wife and I have been unable to conceive but are blessed to have an opportunity to build a family with a wonderful community. My wife also works with me at school and works in the dorm, so we’ve been learning to become parents for years
