Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I have always liked sharing my knowledge, first doing so by teaching karate. I was inspired by my past teachers and what I learned from them, and I wanted to inspire others with the same knowledge. It makes my heart feel good when I see a spark in my student's eyes when they learn something new. This has all inspired me to get my PhD (which I will have in the spring) so I can know more about what I teach.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have had so many, and really, every day is a new, memorable experience. But I also love seeing my students laugh and do well on their tests and again seeing that spark in their eyes when they learn something new that excites them. Another great memory was when a former student decided to become a teacher and named me as the reason. And recently, two of my classes both gave me a thank you card signed by the entire class.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Pay some of my student loans ($120,000) off and buy some supplies that will help with teaching my current classes
