I became a teacher because I’ve always wanted to create a safe space where children of all learning styles feel valued and supported. I wanted a classroom where kids can be themselves, embrace who they are, and grow with confidence. My goal has always been to make learning fun, engaging, and meaningful while empowering our youth with the knowledge and skills they need for a brighter future. Seeing my students thrive is the most rewarding part of what I do!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

For my 15th year of teaching, I celebrated with a classroom Quinceañera during Hispanic Heritage Month. My students were my “court,” we incorporated every tradition, and even my dad joined for the waltz. Many had never experienced a Quinceañera, so it was a beautiful way to share culture and build community. To this day, students still talk about it, and it remains one of the most special moments in our Title I school!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I currently work four jobs to pay my bills and stay afloat. If I win the $25,000, I can alleviate myself of one of these jobs and put a down payment on a small condo to finally own my own place! I would also use some of the money to cross things off my bucket list, and purchase necessary furniture for my classroom!
