Tell us why you became a teacher

Becoming a first-grade teacher was a decision rooted deeply in my own experiences as a student and the profound impact that educators had on my life. When I look back, I realize that many of the teachers I had throughout my childhood not only taught me academic subjects, but also instilled in me crucial life lessons that shaped who I am today. These teachers were much more than just instructors; they were role models, mentors, and a source of safety and comfort during times when I needed it most

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences came when I was teaching first grade and had a diverse group of students, each with their own unique learning needs. I quickly realized that every student learns differently, so I focused on understanding those differences and adapting my approach accordingly. For example, I had one student who struggled with reading, and instead of following the same strategy I used for the rest of the class, I implemented a multisensory approach to help her.

Nonprofit Mission Statement: In honor of my late mother, I am committed to creating a nonprofit that will empower students from underserved communities to achieve their academic dreams. Our mission is to provide financial assistance, academic resources, and tutoring support to students who face barriers to education. By helping these students access college opportunities and essential educational materials, we aim to level the playing field and help them succeed both academically and personally
