Tell us why you became a teacher

I pursued a career in education with the belief that every student deserves equitable access to the curriculum, regardless of their individual learning levels. I aim to empower students to recognize how their actions can influence the world, both positively and negatively. By creating an inclusive and dynamic learning environment, I strive to inspire students to become critical thinkers and responsible citizens. I enjoy being their role model showing they can do whatever they put their mind to.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most significant teaching experiences involved organizing a field trip to the aquarium for my class. The objective was to engage students in understanding the impact of human activities on various environmental factors that can lead to changes in species. During this project, students were tasked with writing essays and creating presentations that illustrated these concepts. A notable example was a group that focused on the detrimental effects of improperly disposed trash on sea life.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were fortunate enough to receive the prize of $25,000, my primary objective would be to alleviate my student loans and outstanding debts as a new educator. Additionally, I would allocate at least $500 towards creating a classroom environment that fosters learning about ecosystems, energy, and responsibility, while ensuring that students feel safe, comfortable, and supported in their educational journey.
