To be a part of the developing lives of others. To be a scientist asking the question- ‘How/what creates the most thoughtful, confident and considerate adult?’ To be a figure in the lives of children that is unafraid to be themselves, and unafraid to offer myself to them and others. And to offer them the knowledge that life is precious and to be taken sincerely not so seriously. And by example, remind them that we love to learn, although we all have our own interests and expertise.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I gave 2week notice with a preschool and w/ the children too. I knew I would want that from my teacher. It was still hard those weeks, we embraced our sadness and each other. On the last day, while helping one young man pack up. “When will I see you again?” Like an arrow in the heart. Lie? Truth? Redirect? ”When you are my age, we’ll meet. But youll have a car by then, a girlfriend, a job! youll forget all about me.” And even when this wasnt the easiest friend to have, those students seep deep.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With this money I would create a business that documents the world’s teaching practices and brings them to all who could benefit from them- Grandparents, teachers, students, parents, institutions. Education is the world’s most valuable resource that gives far beyond the original cost. -community organization -“tea party for children of all ages -“acting improv like the kids know!” (All ages abilities welcome) -cooperative games edu/ organizing
