Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to help students accomplish their goals and become better people. Teaching is ever-changing, filled with challenges and rewarding moments. I believe education creates a ripple effect where I help a student succeed and they help others. There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing students accept others' differences, become better people, build confidence, and realize they’re capable of more than they thought possible. Seeing their excitement about their growth is so rewarding.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was when a former student told me my class prepared her for college, saying, “You taught me how to think.” Another is having students from all backgrounds say they see me as a mentor who genuinely values them. One said, “You make us feel like we matter.” These moments remind me that teaching is about more than academics, it’s about creating a space where students feel seen, supported, and empowered.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I’d use it to support my family, who are my biggest supporters/inspiration. I have two young sons and a wife who works tirelessly to raise them while I'm teaching/coaching all day. This prize would provide some financial ease on my family and allow me to focus even more on being the best teacher, husband, and father I can be.
